Last week I spent Thursday and Friday at Dartington Hall, near Totnes in Devon at the DARTS (Discover Academic Research Training and Support) conference 2 organised by CILIP UC&R South West. There were some great presentations with the first day focusing more on information literacy and how librarians can support researchers – Sally Curry from the RIN opened the day and was followed by Moira Bent and Pat Gannon Leary talking about supporting researchers writing for publication.
The second day had a mixture of presentations inlcuding Nicola Cockarill talking about the REF pilot at the University of Plymouth, Graeme Rosenberg from HEFCE talking about the development of REF (Research Excellence Framework). Fereshteh Afshari on the integration between the publications database and repository at Imperial, Chris Pressler on the DART-Europe project to improve access to e-theses. Finally, a presentation from Jessica Gardner and Ahmed Abu-Zayed on the JISC funded CHARTER project at University of Exeter on collaboration between special collections and e-learning teams.
I’ve got full notes from the event if anyone wants to see them – do email me and I can send them on.
